Pen Portrait

Thomas is Director of the Academy of Mediation in Berlin. Over the last
14 years Thomas has trained about 700 professionals in applied mediation. His message and philosophy is that managers who face conflictuous situations are holding the key for a positive and value-adding solution of problems. It is the conflict itself that blocs the accesses to all resources people have to solve the conflict. Mediation is the key to regain access to those competencies by a systematic communication process. One of his current projects is the mediation of a Multi-Stake-Holder Dialog for voluntary social standards in the textile industry in cooperation with the Federal Government of Germany. In February he did a workshop for the senior management of an international corporation in Leadership and Conflict Management in Buenos Aires. Another recent project was the training of high judges of civil courts in Egypt on behalf of the German Foreign Ministry and the Egyptian Ministry of Justice. Another highlight was the moderation of the Global Risk Forum of the United Nations in Davos.

Some of his career cornerstones are in-house training and consultancy for Siemens, Bayer AG, NOERR, PUMA SE and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. For six years he was Head of the International Network for Tolerance, Human Rights and Democracy of the Bertelsmann Foundation (BMG). Furthermore he was the Founding Director of the European School of Governance in Cooperation with the University of Erfurt. In 2014 he founded the SIGNET ltd. for cooperation and value adding business solutions in Berlin.

Thomas appreciates to take care for a close link between scientific fundamentals  and  transferring  the   essentials   to   day-to-day   business. He keeps up his state of the art Know how being a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Bonn, and the University St. Gallen in Switzerland. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Frankfurt School of Management and Finance and the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin.

His expertise is driven by certificates in Conflict Management at the ADAM Institute (Israel) and in Negotiation from Harvard University.
